Thorne Folacal - 60 Capsules
Administration of folinic acid bypasses several steps required of folic acid to become this bioactive form of folate. Folinic acid is a more metabolically active form of folate, capable of boosting levels of the coenzyme forms of the vitamin in circumstances where folic acid has little to no effect. Another benefit of folinic acid is that it is the form of folate responsible for proper DNA and RNA synthesis. Thorne supplies 800 mcg of folinic acid in each capsule of Folacal.
It is important for women of childbearing age to get enough folic acid, not just those who are planning to become pregnant. Only 50 percent of pregnancies are planned, so any woman who could become pregnant should get enough folic acid every day, especially before conception and during early pregnancy.
